Tamang Doctor Society Nepal (TDS Nepal) is a collective of medical doctors from the Tamang community. It was established on Falgun 21, 2077 (February 2021) at Gokarneshwor-06, Boudha, Kathmandu, Nepal. TDS Nepal is a voluntary, non-profit organization committed to improving healthcare access for rural and semi-rural communities across Nepal.
The organization primarily focuses on delivering healthcare services through regular health camps, especially in underserved and remote areas. In addition, TDS Nepal provides financial assistance to patients, helping them access essential medical care and services within Nepal’s healthcare system.
As a community-managed organization dedicated to social welfare, TDS Nepal also supports children from low socio-economic backgrounds by offering educational support, health services, and financial assistance. Its mission is rooted in compassion, equity, and community responsibility.
During the second wave of the COVID-19 pandemic, TDS Nepal launched a teleconsultation service to support patients both in Nepal and abroad through digital and social media platforms. At a time when Nepal’s healthcare system was under extreme pressure, the organization focused on preventing transmission, early detection, and public awareness, particularly in remote regions.
To date, TDS Nepal has successfully organized more than 35 health programs in various districts, directly benefiting over 5,000 individuals. These initiatives have included COVID-19 antigen testing, medical counseling, medicine distribution, and doorstep drug delivery. The organization has also distributed masks, PPE kits, pulse oximeters, and sanitizers to vulnerable communities to help control the spread of the virus.
Tamang Doctor Society Nepal remains fully committed to its mission of improving healthcare access and uplifting marginalized communities through sustained medical, social, and humanitarian services.
