Background and Establishment

Despite Nepal being a multi-ethnic, multi-lingual, multi-religious, and multi-cultural nation, indigenous nationalities have historically faced marginalization and threats to their cultural identity. In this context, the Tamang community living in Japan felt the urgent need for a unified, organized, and institutional platform.

To address this need, Nepal Tamang Society Japan was established with the primary goal of safeguarding the unique Tamang language, script, culture, religion, history, and traditions, while also advocating for the rights, dignity, and social advancement of the community.

Vision and Mission

Nepal Tamang Society Japan is committed to:

  • Strengthening unity, harmony, and brotherhood among Tamangs and all Nepalis living in Japan
  • Addressing social, humanitarian, and human rights challenges faced by Nepalis abroad
  • Encouraging the productive use of skills, technology, knowledge, and capital gained in Japan for Nepal’s socio-economic development
  • Promoting cultural diplomacy and people-to-people relations between Nepal and Japan
